Our Children’s Ministry is structured quite differently from the typical Sunday School.

The UNDERGROUND, is located underneath our gymnasium in our Krause Y12715787_10153700994034279_417199813248251827_nouth Center.  St. Matthew’s Vision Logo (the tree with two main branches and lots of leaves), the ground is the Word of God, where we are rooted and from where we receive the nutrients for our faith to grow.  We want the children to dig into God’s Word so they know their sins are forgiven and to be able to make God-pleasing decisions throughout their lives.  We also want to make learning fun for them.  Our program is a lot like Vacation Bible School, but put together in a way that fits into the shorter time we are able to meet each Sunday.

We start our time together with a Welcome Time from 10:10 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. on Sundays, with light snacks provided.  From there we move the children to a church-like setting of chairs where they hear about the lesson we will be focusing on for the day, hearing the story told and shared by one of our pastors.  After the story is told we break out into groups according to age and grade.

One group goes to Grow Time where they learn how the story applies to their lives.   In this room we sit around a “campfire” in chairs or on pillows as we enjoy murals of vibrant sunsets and special lighting– a great environment for discussing God’s Word.

Another group moves on to Crafts, where a project is worked on that reflects the message of the day.

Then we are back to the church-like setting to close the day with a wrap-up and prayer.

And for the 5-7th graders, we have a separate gathering, where they learn the stories and apply them at their level, while developing good Christian relationships with other young Christians in a fun and relaxing environment.

You are welcome to join us for the UNDERGROUND every Sunday from 10:10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.!
